BLUE DIAL

The dial is the distinctive face of a Rolex watch, the feature most responsible for its identity and readability. Characterised by hour markers fashioned from 18 ct gold to prevent tarnishing, every Rolex dial is designed and manufactured in-house, largely by hand to ensure perfection.

THE OYSTER BRACELET
Model features
The Oyster bracelet is a perfect alchemy of form and function, aesthetics and technology. First introduced in the late 1930s, this particularly robust and comfortable metal bracelet with its broad, flat three-piece links remains the most universal bracelet in the Oyster collection. For the Oyster Perpetual models the Oyster bracelet is fitted with an Oysterclasp.

3130 MOVEMENT
Model features
This model is equipped with calibre 3130, a self-winding mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. Like all Rolex Perpetual movements, the 3130 is a certified Swiss chronometer, a designation reserved for high-precision watches that have successfully passed the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) tests. It is fitted with a Parachrom hairspring, offering greater resistance to shocks and to temperature variations. Its architecture, in common with all Oyster watch movements, makes it singularly reliable.

TRIED AND TESTED
Model features
Few companies have been so consistently identified with the pursuit of excellence, the quest for the absolute, the discovery of original approaches and innovative solutions. Rolex watches have proved themselves from the start in the most extreme conditions imaginable – from the depths of the deepest oceans to the summits of the highest mountains, in the air and on the race track. And to ensure that all Rolex watches can live up to these high expectations, every single one is tested to extremes before it is allowed to leave the Rolex site.

Rolex Owned By Dwight D. Eisenhower Auctioned on September 17 and 18

RR Auctions are preparing to conduct an auction of rare and historic Presidential memorabilia and trinkets, tucked in at lot #177 happens to be one of the Grand-Daddies of all Rolex Oyster watches. The solid yellow gold Rolex Datejust worn by Dwight D. Eisenhower, Supreme Allied Commander and 34th President of the United States of America is up for grabs! Rolex marketing material in the late 50’s used to feature the line: “Men who guide the course of history wear Rolex watches.” The Rolex 6305 coming up for auction this month in Boston, MA is an indication to the weight that statement carries. The watch was owned and worn by Dwight David Eisenhower. His documented use of the piece throughout his two terms as President of the United States cemented its status as one of the most important Rolex watches ever and elevated the profile of Rolex watch from sporting watch maker to prestige brand.

In 1951 Rolex presented Dwight D. Eisenhower a solid gold Datejust ref. 6305 to commemorate the Allied victory of WWII. In an unusually candid move for Rolex, Ike’s watch is reported to have the 150,000th Chronometer grade movement certified by the Geneva brand. Other similar commemorative watches were presented to Swiss General Guisan, Winston Churchill and American General Matthew Ridgway. This watch is certainly part of an exclusive subset or Rolex’s production history.

Eisenhower had the case-back of the watch engraved with his initials “DDE”, the date of his installation as Supreme Commander of the Allied forces and the five stars signifying his rank. He liked the watch so much he had his portrait taken for LIFE Magazine and several other major publications wearing the watch somewhat conspicuously. He continued to wear the watch from 1953 to 1961 as the President of the United States of America. Eisenhower gifted the watch to his (nearly) career-long personal valet, whose family subsequently sold the piece to its current owner, a prominent collector of US Presidential memorabilia.

The real charm of the Eisenhower’s Rolex seems to be the effect that it had on the cache of the brand. A quick analysis of the Rolex’s advertisements prior to Eisenhower’s spontaneous publicity for the Company focused on the technical side of Rolex: accuracy, water-resistance, durability …etc. Then in 1957 it became the brand for the movers and shakers in world politics.

ROLEX DAYTONA watches with black ceramlc bezel

It’s about time the steel Rolex Daytona got an upgrade, as it’s been about sixteen years since we’ve seen it refreshed. The wait is over with the new-for-Baselworld-2016 Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 116500LN in 904L steel. It uses a new monobloc Cerachrom bezel in black ceramic with an updated tahcymeter design, shedding the older engraved metal bezel. It’s still got the calibre 4130 movement, but is now tested by Rolex to +2/-2 seconds per day accuracy, which is super impressive for a mass produced chronograph. That rating means that the new Rolex Daytona also sports the Rolex Superlative Chronometer Certification, of which you can read all about right here. A new aesthetic choice I love is the black snailed sub-dials on the white dial model, while the other available version in black dial has gray snailed sub-dials. Now, let’s get our hands on this new Rolex Cosmograph Daytona and see what it has to offer in person…

Waterproof to 100 meters, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona’s middle case is made from a solid block of 904L steel.
Waterproof to 100 meters, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona’s middle case is made from a solid block of 904L steel.

The aforementioned monobloc Cerachrom used in the bezel is a material developed by Rolex and is replacing the engraved metal bezel on the outgoing Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. It hearkens to the past with the 1965 Rolex Cosmograph Daytona that had a plexiglass black bezel, but it’s due time the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona joins its siblings like the Rolex Submariner and Rolex GMT-Master II in getting the ceramic bezel treatment. Cerachrom is incredibly scratch proof due to its hardness, and on top of this, it will keep the black bezel from fading due to the effects of UV rays.

Rolex has also made an effort to preserve the legibility on the bezel through a process they developed that involves moulding the graduations into the ceramic before it’s heated up to 1,500 degrees celsius. After this, it’s coated with a thin layer of platinum using a PVD process. What this process does is create a level of definition in tandem with the contrast of platinum and black ceramic.

The polished center links, satin-finished outer links with the polished edges are pretty close to perfection.

Furthermore, the tachymeter scale has been updated so now it “follows” the rounded shape of the dial – the numerals were “horizontal” on the previous version. One final point about the bezel before moving on is that it’s one single piece holding the crystal in place on the middle case, which helps with waterproofing.

As previously mentioned, the automatic calibre 4130 is still the engine that drives the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. However, the movement which previously boasted being COSC Chronometer Certified is now also Rolex Superlative Chronometer Certified. For the record, Rolex is not at all planning on leaving COSC, as they want to keep it as an external, independent certification. Their in-house certification requires -2/+2 second accuracy rating though, which is being applied to all new Rolex watches.

Back to the calibre 4130, when Rolex designed it they they concentrated on reducing the number of components in the chronograph function, helping to increase reliability. The chronograph is activated and reset using the screw-down pushers, which will interact with the movement’s column wheel and vertical clutch mechanisms – contributing to a precise and immediate start. The chronograph is accurate to within 1/8th of a second, if you need that kind accuracy. Interestingly, between the seconds markers of the dial we still have 4 notches, so you can’t really read that 1/8th accuracy.

The familiar crown looks timeless, but also is fitted with the Triplock triple waterproofness system. It’ll screw down along with the chronograph pushers flanking it on either side of its crown guard.

The calibre 4130’s oscillator has a Rolex patented blue Parachrom hairspring made in a proprietary alloy. The Parachrom hairspring is resistant to magnetic fields, allowing it to offer stability in situations that also include temperature variations as well as shocks, where it can remain up to 10 times more precise than a traditional hairspring. The automatic movement operates at 28,800 vph (4Hz) and affords a power reserve of 72 hours, which we’d normally say is more than ample if you want to take it off for a weekend or even a long weekend… But, we don’t think you’ll be getting tired of a brand-new Rolex Cosmograph Daytona that soon.

Rolex CELLINI Date Watch

In the three Rolex Cellini dress watches of 2014, it can be said that the Rolex Cellini Date model may be the most beautiful. Of course, the Rolex Cellini time (which only means time) is clean and easy to pick, and the Cellini Dual Time offers a good travel watch for those who like to wear a tuxedo in their luggage, but the Cellini Date mixes the new Rolex guillotine Engraved dial aesthetic, with the usefulness of date indicator.

595/5000 In fact, with three distinct Rolex Cellini models, each coming in different case materials and dial colors, Rolex has released a total of 12 new Cellini models for 2014.

I do not remember the last time the Rolex displayed the date on the dial pad and the disc in the window. In fact, Rolex invented the concept of Datejust’s original date window watch. If you prefer formal dress to be a bit more complicated and you know the date is still useful to you, then the Rolex Chebyni date is a very attractive product. Date dialing further helps to increase the character, otherwise it will be just a three-faced face. This extra information turns this dial into a deeper “watch area,” making it suitable for those who wish to obtain the date of Rolex Celeini, rather than their only timepiece, but as a supplement to many high-quality watches. .

Rolex’s new 39 mm wide Cellini case combines elements of the classic watch line with the popular Oyster case. In the case of 50 meters waterproof, Cellini is not an oyster, but its size is smaller. However, it carries a very thin version of the oyster ripple bezel, which adds another feeling to Rolex’s Rolex DNA.

The base Cellini Time watch has a more simple lacquered dial. Each of the dial colors is available with either the 18k white or Everose gold (a special 18k rose gold alloy that Rolex makes) case, which adds a welcome variety and level of consumer choice.

At 39 mm wide, I think the Cellini case combines elegance and modernity in a satisfying manner, neither too big nor too small. Unlike the wider lugs on most Oyster Professional watches (such as Submariner), the lugs on the Cellini case are more sleek, making the wrist more compact. It feels like a few years ago, almost all Rolex watches come from metal bracelets. Now, with works like Rolex Cereni, we realize that we are more focused on adding shoulder straps to the Rolex wear experience.

Having said that, I can’t help but wonder if the bracelet might look like it was designed for the new Cellini series. However, the shoulder strap is very beautiful, with a Rolex signature (and crown), made of black or brown crocodile.

The off-center date dial offers a new look for the brand, and adds a new way to tell the date even if it isn’t strictly speaking as convenient as a digital date window.

Just like day/day (unlike Datejust), the Rolex Cellini series will be exclusively available in precious metals. These are not now jeweled watches, but one of the thinnest configurations of Rolex watches. Despite this, they still have a self-made Rolex automatic mechanical movement.

ROLEX YACHT-MASTER 116655 & 268655 EVEROSE GOLD CERAMIC WATCHES

The 2015 Rolex new sports watch is an interesting version of the Rolex Master Rolex Masterpiece. The watch uses the 18k Everose gold case, and the Cerachrom black ceramic bezel matches the new watchband Rolex calls Oysterflex. The 2015 yacht masters are actually two watches, each with a slight but important difference. The first is the 40mm wide yacht master 116655, but you should also know the interesting 268655 version of the 37mm wide yacht master. aBlogtoWatch launched the 2015 Rolex Yacht Master 116655 from Everrose Gold and Ceramics.

the 40mm Rolex Yacht-Master 116655 contains the existing Rolex caliber 3135 automatic movement that is of course COSC Chronometer certified

Although the watch is gold (which means it is expensive), it is still a great sports watch. Although many people think that the genuine Rolex sports watch has a steel case, but precious metal sports watch as a lifestyle product has an emerging market. At least in Rolex, you know it also has a lot of durability and the idea behind it. I would like to know what people think about the sports equipment of the Rolex Yacht Master in 2015, although it is more than double the price of the Steel Rolex Submariner.

Yacht Master has always been an interesting place in the Rolex Sports Watch series. When debuting, compared to the more practical Submariner or GMT-Master, its purpose is to become a higher-end lifestyle type of sports watch. Yacht Master never intended to become a professional diving watch or pilot’s stuff. If anything, it is a watch for those who ride or own a yacht. This means that their lives have a certain degree of activity and need some waterproofing, but the style and status are also the same. So what does this all mean for the brand new Rolex yacht masters? Nevertheless, they still live in the contemporary generation of Rolex yacht masters.

The 3135 is the same movement you’ll find in some other Rolex watches – namely the Rolex Submariner Date watch.
The 3135 is the same movement you’ll find in some other Rolex watches – namely the Rolex Submariner Date watch.

In the first show of our Rolex Yacht Master 116655, I more or less stated the technical details presented by Rolex in 2015. Now, after some practical operations with the new Rolex Master, I explained it to Rolex. After the full content of this new watch, will fill in some details and other insights.

For personal experience, Rolex Yacht Master 116655 is also handsome, if not handsome, compared to the print images of British Rolex (usually perfect). I have always been a fan of mixed gold and black – if you look for it, you can find it from other Rolex models from time to time. Immediately thought of is the Rolesor (two-color) Rolex submarine with a gold-steel case and a black dial. The 18k Everose Gold Rolex Yacht Master (ROLEX’s own unique rose gold alloy, which does not disappear over time) is mixed with black ceramics, visually it will do something interesting and is very different from the Rolex Rolex watches ( Although in the same family) submerged. Although the Submariner has a glossy, glossy Cerachrom black ceramic bezel, the 116655 Rolex yacht owner’s Cerachrom ceramic bezel is matte black and graduated in scale (just like the other precious metals Rolex yacht’s main bezel).

Inside the 37mm-wide Rolex Yacht-Master is the Rolex caliber 2236 which we debuted here during Baselworld 2014.
Inside the 37mm-wide Rolex Yacht-Master is the Rolex caliber 2236 which we debuted here during Baselworld 2014.

The matte black and texture of Rolex’s Yacht-Master baffle echoed on the dial – again very rare on the modern Rolex sports watch. This makes it look cool and looks a bit clearer and more aggressive than the slightly shiny Rolex Oyster sports watch we are used to. Of course, with the hands of the 116,655 Rolex Yacht Master and hour markers marked at 18k Everose gold and polished – this gives the watch a real “Rolex character”. It doesn’t look like all currently available Rolex Oyster sports watches – not mentioning other Rolex Yachtmaster timepieces. For this reason alone, I think that watch lovers will have a keen interest in Rolex Master 116655.

ROLEX SUBMARINER 116610LV IN GREEN WATCH REVIEW

The Rolex Submariner replica watches Date reference 116610LV, aka “Hulk,” is the Rolex Submariner we all know and love (there are always dissenters, I imagine) but with a green ceramic bezel and green dial. It commands a price premium over the more traditional black ceramic bezel and matching black dial “classic” Rolex Submariner 116610LN reference model and further exists in the interesting pantheon of green Rolex watches that have often been released as special anniversary pieces for the brand.

the Rolex Submariner is among the most copied watches in the world.
the Rolex Submariner is among the most copied watches in the world.

As is the case with many timepieces that I eventually end up being very fond of, the green-dialed Rolex Submariner was not a timepiece I was immediately enamored with when it was first debuted in 2010. It was hardly that I didn’t like it – especially as I am pretty sure green is my favorite color – but rather that I was a bit ambivalent towards it. I believe my thinking at the time was that the black-dialed Submariner was so good, it was going to be tough to convince consumers to get green instead of black, or to ask them to pony up and buy both. I also want to note that while the green “Hulk” Rolex Submariner 116610LV isn’t a limited edition, it’s not the type of watch Rolex will make forever. Its popularity has kept it in production, but Rolex could quietly stop making it at any time without notice or reason.

Over the years, I’ve admired the green Submariner from afar seeing it on fellow watch lovers, celebrities, and even hearing some people criticize it. Someone whose taste I admire even called it “uncool.” Mind you, at the time, this person was wearing a Rolex (a vintage Daytona on a bund-style cuff strap) so they weren’t exactly hostile to the brand. I believe their reasoning was that in their opinion wearing the green-dialed Rolex Submariner 116610LV came across to him as though someone was “trying too hard.” Trying too hard to what? Well, perhaps stand out or be unique.

The beauty of the green Submariner is that it isn’t as stylistically versatile as the black model.
The beauty of the green Submariner is that it isn’t as stylistically versatile as the black model.

I agree that if that is why you purchase this watch, or any watch for that matter, then it isn’t cool. I do, however, disagree that the green Rolex Submariner 116610LV isn’t a cool watch – it just depends on how you wear it. First of all, green is obviously a key color for Rolex, given that it is the brand’s primary trademark hue. What I like, however, is that Rolex likes to play with various shades of green. That means the various green Rolex watches out there, from Daytona watches to Presidents, have different shades and finishes of green. I personally think that if I were sufficiently funded I would very much like to have a collection of as many different green-dialed Rolex watches as I could get my hands on.

Another justification for me in adding the green Rolex Submariner 116610LV Date to my collection is that I already had another similar modern Rolex Submariner watch in black. However, this wasn’t the Submariner Date but rather the Rolex Submariner “No Date” reference 114060 which has a beautiful symmetrical dial. Thus, I didn’t have a Rolex Submariner Date in my collection, so adding the green Rolex Submariner 116610LV didn’t feel too redundant.

That means while the green color doesn’t work everywhere (such as with a tuxedo), when it does work it looks incredible.
That means while the green color doesn’t work everywhere (such as with a tuxedo), when it does work it looks incredible.

This is really not the time for me to once again review the Rolex Submariner watch in general. We’ve done that a number of times in useful articles that I’ll point out to you such as the Rolex Submariner 114060 I previously mentioned and an overall review of the Rolex Submariner 116610 here. We also compared the Rolex Submariner to the Tudor Heritage Black Bay watch here. Right now, I’ll focus on this green bezel and dial Rolex Submariner 116610LV reference model and what is important to say about it specifically.
